Monument to Moses Forte
Zante Town Zante Town
In July 2014, at the Jewish cemetery, two marble monuments were unveiled in memory of the Jewish residents of Corfu and Chania, who were originally from Zakynthos and were killed by the Germans during World War II, as well as in memory of the soldier Moses Forte, who was killed on the Albanian front. On the slab of the second monument, which bears as a crown a marble Star of David, and the photo of the slain, an inscription reads: "In memory of the soldier Moses S. Fortes who heroically fell fighting on the Albanian front on December 23, 1940."
