All about Zakynthos

Skopos mountain is located near Argassi, with an altitude of 492m. offers a unique panoramic view of the island, the Ionian, but also of Cephalonia and the Peloponnese. On the east side is also the restored Byzantine Church of Agios Nikolaos Megalomatis which dates back to the 18th century. with elements dating from the 10th to the 12th century. Also, at the top dominates the Byzantine monastery of Panagia Skopiotissa built before the middle of the 15th century. on an ancient temple of the goddess Artemis whose pieces such as the entrance and the floor of the temple were used in the new church. Murals and the miraculous icon of Panagia Skopiotissa are preserved.
