All about Zakynthos

In the central square of the community Katastari, next to the sanctuary of the church "Koimiseos tis Theotokou" (Assumption of the Virgin Mary), a marble memorial has been built, a column on a 5-step pedestal, in memory of the fallen inhabitants of the village, which bears a representation of a laurel wreath at the top and is crowned with a marble effigy of an "Hydria", an ancient greek pottery, from which flames emerge and is decorated with flowers around the perimeter. The monument was originally located in another place on the square and has recently been moved. The names of those who were killed are inscribed on all four sides of the monument with the inscription 'They fell fighting for their country'. 1897 - 1922: Dionysios I. Voutos / Anastasios A.
