All about Zakynthos

In the courtyard of the church of St. Mary Magdalene in Maries, a memorial has been placed, made of a column of smooth stone, crowned by the effigy of a war sword. It is also adorned by a representation of laurel branches, and the verses are inscribed on the front: "I know thee by the edge of the terrible sword. I know thee by the face that forcibly measures the earth'.
