Monument for the friendly relations between Zakynthos and Souli

In 1973, an elaborate marble monument was constructed in the square next to the holy church of the "Lady of Angels", highlighting the friendly relations between Zakynthos and Souli. On the front side of the monument the verses are written: "Hail oh Hail Freedom!" D. Solomos. The words 'Zante Souli', intertwined with the words 'Zakynthos Souli' and the date 1821. The following inscription follows:  'Zakynthos the most beautiful flower that has done for the holy Agon and the Heroic Martyrs of Soulion'. A medallion-shaped representation of the god Apollo holding a lyre follows, surrounded by the lyrics: 'O Friendly Fatherland, O wondrous island' by A. Kalvos. Also the engraved inscription:"Founded on the 150th anniversary of the sacrifice of Markos Bottsaris 1790 - 9.8.1823". On the back side is written: "1973, Offering of General Dimitrios T. Notis Bottsaris".
