All about Zakynthos

The local community of Ano Volimεσ: In the square of the church of Agios Dimitrios, a marble monument has been placed in the square with the names and surnames of the killed redidents of the military community. The monument is crowned by a likeness of a Hydria from which flames are thrown, while on the front there is a representation of laurel branches and to the right and left of the representation, the names of typical battlefields are inscribed: Pindos, Korytsa, Saggarii, Chimara, Belles, Aidinion. A little further down, the quote from the Epitaph of Pericles speech in 430 BC to the dead of the Peloponnesian War and which was preserved by the Athenian historian Thucydides: 'The tomb of nomble men is everyehre on this earth' 1912 - 1922.
