All about Zakynthos

In the courtyard of the Primary School of Kalipados, in 1986, a stone memorial was built consisting of two columns, in memory of those who died during the national struggles. The front of one column is decorated with a relief of a sword and a laurel wreath and crowned by a statue of an ancient decorated column. The other column is crowned by a lamp effigy. Calvos' verse from the ode 'To Samon' has also been carved on the monument: "Freedom needs virtue and courage!" Kallipadon 1986'
