Zibilaki shop of colonial goods
History Zante Town Zante Town

During the Venetian occupation and until about the end of the British protection, Stenoforos was the most important village of Zakynthos.

The market started just after the gate that separated Stenoforos from Agios Markos Square and ended at the bridge (the current building of the Region).

When after 1836, the Botega of Komoutos was occupied by the Popolarians, the Zakynthian rulers took refuge in the colonial shop of Zibilakis in Stenoforos.

"Passing through there", Leonidas Zois recounts, "in the evening especially and looking into that shop, he saw the exiles of Botega of Komoutos, sitting on the bags of coffee and beans and dimly lit by a dirty lamp, talking to each other".
