All about Zakynthos

The mansion of Caesar Roma was used before the earthquake to house the Prefecture of Zakynthos.

Caesar, son of the president of the Ionian Senate, Georgios Kandianos and Orsola Valsamos, was born in Zakynthos in 1827.

He studied in Greece and France at the Evelpidon School and on his return he was appointed professor of the Greek Evelpidon School.

In 1861 he followed Otto into exile, and when he later returned to Greece he was appointed to the Ministry of Military Affairs.

He was elected MP in 1892 and died suddenly a few days after his election.
