Kolokotroni house - Trinity
History
Zante Town
Zante Town
In 1806 Theodoros Kolokotronis was bountyed by the Turks and fled with his family to Zakynthos, where he stayed until 1821.
His house was in the area of Agia Triada in today's Kolokotronis Street.
To support his family, he initially took on various military positions and later worked as a butcher.
His children grew up and were educated in Zakynthos where they were lucky enough to be among the students of Antonios Martelaos.
It is even said that when Kolokotronis had time, he attended the traditions of the enlightened teacher.
The house where the Kolokotronis family lived, destroyed by the earthquakes, is preserved, as is the oil painting by Dimitrios Pelekasis that represents its entrance.
