Diplos kalamatianos

It is a dance in a similar dance pattern to the kalamatianos, in 7/8 rhythm. It is performed by men and women, in an open circle with the hands held by the palms and consists of eighteen movements. Opening with an initial step on the right foot, followed by seven steps in the direction of the circle, with the second step stepping the left foot behind the right foot. In the last eleven steps there are four crossing of the feet, either all four crossing forward or, alternately, two forward and two back. The songs accompanying the dance are "Ston Adi tha katevo" (meaning To Hades I shall descend) and "Eseis poulia tou kampou" (meaning birds of the fields).
