Amiri
"Poor girl" (male mimetic dance). This is a special dance event of Zakynthos: Syrtos, danced only by men in an open circle and the grip of the hands is from the palms, with the elbows slightly bent. It is a satirical mimetic dance, performed without the company of musical instruments during the Carnival period. The leader, playing the role of the 'poor girl', starts singing, making fun of the young girl, making some characteristic movements (holding her head with his hands, making strong gestures, etc.), emphasising her heartbreak with facial expressions, with exclamations and with lyrics repeated by the other dancers. This is a dance that is the main dance of the village of Agios Leontas.
